Personal Intensive Therapy

Personal Intensives are designed for individuals who are highly motivated and seeking a supportive space with customized treatment and limited distractions to process traumas, triggers, and blocks in the most rapid and efficient way. Research supports that Intensive Therapy often has better therapeutic outcomes than standard sessions.

At STIR Psychology, Personal Intensive Therapy are private individual appointments with a Brainspotting therapist. This grants the time needed for the in-depth work of uncovering limiting patterns, addressing specific traumas and negative beliefs towards self, and connecting with your true identity and goals for lasting improvements.

After the Personal Intensive is completed, standard session bookings are available as needed for ongoing support, accountability, and treatment planning.

Benefits Of Personal Intensive Therapy:

  • Customized treatment: Personalized treatment plan to ensure it caters to the individual's needs and goals.

  • Rapid progress: Intensive Therapy sessions allow individuals to work through their trauma at a much faster pace than traditional therapy approaches, leading to quicker healing and symptom relief.

  • Deep Brain and Body Based Healing though Brainspotting: Brainspotting is a powerful brain/body focused treatment that identifies, processes, and releases deep neurophysiological and emotional trauma, negative self-beliefs, problematic behaviours, and performance blocks.

Therapeutic Approach - Brainspotting Therapy:

Brainspotting is a therapeutic tool for everyone with a variety of issues. If you are new to therapy and are looking for a way to change behaviour patterns, Brainspotting can help resolve the emotional and physical pain that keeps you stuck in those patterns. If you have been in therapy before but feel that your work could go deeper, Brainspotting can take therapy to another level of healing. Clients report finding the cause of their conflicts and turning them into growth opportunities.

If you are uncomfortable talking about your past traumatic experiences, this modality will enable you to heal without telling or retelling your story.

Personal Intensives Are For Individuals:
  1. In crisis and have specific unwanted behaviours or problems they are struggling with.

  2. Have experienced trauma or betrayal.

  3. Who seem to cycle through the same problem without seeming to make any progress.

  4. In a location where they must travel to receive therapy and therefore prefer to attend for a condensed period of time, rather than travelling weekly.

  5. With special scheduling needs.

  6. Who are highly motivated and want to continue to be intentional about building the life of their dreams.

Personal Intensive Therapy may move you more quickly and intensely into the areas of difficulty. Therefore you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, and helplessness. Your therapy may also involve recalling unpleasant aspects of your history.

Personal Intensive Therapy Limitations:

There are limitations to Personal Intensives and are unadvisable in the following situations:

  1. Active alcohol and/or drug addiction that would prevent one from attending sober.

  2. Currently has an unmanaged major mental illness (schizophrenia, recurrent psychotic depression, or bipolar/manic-depressive illness.) This does not include past, successfully treated psychotic episodes (e.g. post-partum depression with psychosis).

  3. Currently suicidal and/or homicidal.
